The arrival of 2013 marked the 20th anniversary of Anita Harris' debut as a jazz singer on the Australian scene. It was 1993 when Melbourne based vocalist Anita Harris first stepped onto the stage to perform to a jazz audience, and began what became an entertaining and celebrated musical journey. Performing in many private and public venues, jazz clubs and festivals, restaurants and wineries, it’s been a most enjoyable trip so far.
Once described by Australian Jazz Scene as “one of those very rare vocal stylists who have a wide appeal to a range of age groups and jazz preferences in her audiences” (Ron Spain, Australian Jazz Scene, April 2006), Anita has a large repertoire of jazz gems, a growing catalogue of recordings and some of Melbourne’s finest musicians on hand to work by her side.
Following the release of her debut recording, Moments In Time, one journalist wrote, "She has a strong fluid contralto which she employs to produce a delightfully creamy sound and she swings ably and effortlessly.” (Bruce Crowther, UK Jazz Journal). Still swinging many years on, in 2013 she celebrated the milestone of 20 jazz filled years with the release of her 4th CD, Here’s Looking At You.
